Hello y'all, Well, the issue I'm having is that i reformatted my laptop to do a fresh install of XP, before i did this i backed up my drivers on an external hard drive, which crashed shortly after i completed the fresh install of xp. So i have been trying to reinstall all my drivers, and have successfully (or at least i believe it was successfully.) installed most of my drivers except two. The fist one is a PCI Modem with ven 1002, dev 4378, which after doing some research is an ATI SB400 AC97 Modem Controller. The second is the Video Controller Ven 1002 dev 5955, which is ATI mobility radeon xpress 200. I have found drivers for these from HP by using the PCIDatabase.com website, but once i try to install them they tell me 'INF error video driver not found.'

And 'setup was unable to complete the installation try to setup your display adapter with standard VGA driver before running setup.' When i try to install both of these. Also, for some reason my laptop doesn't have sound either, even though the device manager doesn't show that my audio driver is not functioning (this is why i say i believe i installed them correctly.) can someone please help me fix my laptop. Oh yeah i forgot to mention my laptop is a compaq presario v2000. Any other information that is needed please ask. Edited by PhOeNiX559, 09 October 2010 - 01:10 AM.

Hi - Use these only if the link from Platypus will not fully help you - (ATI SB400 AC97 Modem Controller) This device in some places is also called an audio/sound controller - Just re checking it - Re: DRIVER NEEDED: ATI IXP SB400 AC'97 Audio Controller (Windows XP Home) will work for the ati sb400 audio device File is available at hp.com Requires forceful install! Chose to select device from list >select modem then click have disk and navigate to the folder where you extracted the drivers will work the same way for the modem Edited to add second link - Edited by noknojon, 09 October 2010 - 05:36 AM.

I'll admit to being a little puzzled. Is there a reason you would not simply download the appropriate drivers for the model of Presario you have?: Actually i did go there first, however some of the drivers didn't make sense to me (ie the graphics driver was for an intel chipset, whereas my computer is using ATI drivers) And the audio drivers i downloaded from there failed to install.

It hadn't occur to me to force install them, which actually worked. Sound is still not functioning so i'm going to try and uninstall and reinstall the realtec ac97 sound drivers. Ill let you guys know how it went in a few. Hi - here is a link from Cnet for the audio driver you listed - Or a similar one from Brothersoft - See if either works - Both are listed for XP - Edited to add second D/load - Well, the file that downloaded was the same one that i had previously installed. Retried it using the second link to no avial.
